Shadow Work Toolkit

Hello Fellow Human,

You know how sometimes you have a bright, shiny face you present to the world... And other times, despite your shiny facade, it feels like there's something dark lurking in the back of your mind or the depths of your soul that's either taking excess energy to suppress, or occasionally pops up uninvited and makes things rather unpleasant or messes things up?! Well... that might be your shadow coming up.

What’s my shadow you ask? It’s a way of thinking about those parts of yourself you either keep hidden or are currently unaware of but that are influencing how you feel and behave.

To help you investigate and become more familiar with your own shadow I developed this The Shadow Work Toolkit to help bring a little more kind and gentle awareness to the lesser acknowledged parts of yourself.

How does this help? When you come from a place of loving awareness, it opens the possibility of starting to be a little more compassionate with ALL parts of yourself and develop a better understanding of how to best meet your own true needs.

Curious? Let's play! All you need is a pen and piece of paper to begin

Start by diving your page into 5 columns and then follow these steps...

Ask yourself:

Where do you feel shame?

What are your regrets?

Where am I in judgement?

What do you deny yourself?

How do you react and protect?

Interpreting your answers:

The answers to questions 1-3 give you clues about where you could be kinder to yourself and what beliefs you could heal.

The answer to question 4 gives you clues on needs and values that you might really benefit from meeting.

The answer to question 5 can help you build awareness and recognise how and where you might be acting from your shadow in your daily life - and hopefully become kind, gentle and compassionate with yourself in those moments.

If you'd like to work more with discovering and gently integrating your shadow parts, I'd be delighted to assist you.

You can book in a one-off 90 minute discovery session or experience the benefits of regular progress with a 5, 10 or 20 session package of Somatic Psychotherapy sessions.

If you enjoyed the Shadow Work Toolkit I'd love to hear from you!
